The Arctic Wolf

The names January has Latin origins, it derives from the god Janus, whose name means ‘Archway’. Janus was the god of new beginnings in Roman mythology.

In Latin it is spelled Ianuarius and in Old French is Janvier. The Portuguese version is Janeiro (Rio de Janeio – meaning January River).

In Saxony January was called the Wolf’s Month, and the full moon in January the Wolf Moon, because of the wolves howling at the moon during the night

January is another fantastic month name option, as well as September, August, April, July and June. It also fits well with long and elegant names such as Mallory, Romany and Amaryllis.
