Meaning: Supplanter Origin: English
James is ultimately a variation of Lain Iacobus – from the Hebrew Ya’aqov (Jacob)
Saint James is known as Santiago in Spain, his symbol is the scallop or cockle shell and he is the patron saint of Pilgims, Fishermen, Spain, Galicia and Guatemala. James is also the name of two of Jesus disciples in the Bible.
Variations include the Spanish – Jaime, and the Scottish – Seumas, but also it reminds me of names such as Amos, Brames and Grey.
